The newest race course on ^Virignia’s point-to-point circuit is taking shape at the £Bleu Rock Inn on US 211 between Washington and ✓Sperryville in Rappahannock pCounty. On March 3 it will ✓host the Rappahannock ✓Hunt’s “point-to-point. But it’s <not really a new site — for ✓those old enough” to remempber, the hunt held races there •^fifty years ago. ✓ Honorary Race Chairman pand former Rappahannock ✓Hunt joint master John R. ✓“Jack” DeBergh, remembers pthose races, held the year ^Rappahannock’s current mas✓ter, Oliver Brown, was born. p“It was called Leeway Farm pthen,” he said of the 80+ acre ✓site that’s now the Bleu Rock plnn. ✓ “Lee and Eldon ✓Greenaway owned it, and it ^was a horse farm. The ✓Rappahannock Hunt held ✓races there in 1951, ‘52, ‘53 pand ‘54,” he said. DeBergh, ✓84, said he even rode his hunt P horse in some races there. “I '.was always the bridesmaid, ✓but never the bride,” he said.
