Dressage schooling available
The Old Dominion. Hounds Pony Club is organizing a serins of Friday evening dressage schooling shows this summer at Windsor Lodge Farm, Flint Hill. The dates are June 17, July 15, and August 12. The shows will run from 4 p.m. to dusk, with food available on the show grounds. Series championship to be awarded. Seeking young ladies
Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is seeking young ladies between the ages of 1-21 to compete for the following titles: Little Miss, ages 1-7, Junior Miss, ages 8-15 and Miss Honorary Fire Chief, ages 16-21. Rivers and Roots Festival
On Saturday, June 25 the “Rivers and Roots Festival” kicks off a day-long celebration of Rappahannock agriculture and the environment. Cowpie bingo, Missie the International Champion Jumping Mule, area farm and garden programs, exhibits on alternative fuels, watershed initiatives and environmental protection, a packed line up of hands-on learning experiences, all offered against a backdrop of homegrown music ranging from blues to bluegrass and beyond, and served up with a heaping helping of organic burgers, chicken and sides. Proceeds benefit Rappahannock school music programs. Performers include “Calypso-grass” favorites, Eddie From Ohio, plus Catfish Hodge, the award winning RCHS concert and jazz bands and more. Admission is free until 5:30 p.m., $10 evening admission for adults, $5 for kids 10-17, and kids under 10 listen free. Bring lawn chairs and blankets.
