Charmaine Lee, founder/ creator of Synergydance, is pleased to announce that “The Mystic Fire Oriental dancers of Rappahannock” will be performing dances which incorporate ancient forms from Turkey, India. Egypt and other Middle Eastern traditions. They will be performing at both the elementary and high school.
Mastering the
martial arts
Additionally at RCHS, Jeff Schwartz and company from the Five Rings Martial Arts Academy in Front Royal will be demonstrating a range of martial arts in the high school gym. Five Rings believes that the practice of martial arts benefits students by helping them to focus, instill discipline and respect, and foster self-defense stating that “it is important for each child to learn to set shortterm, intermediate, and longterm goals.”
The International Festival has certainly evolved since its beginning three years ago. Rosa Crocker, a member of CEP said, “this event couldn’t possibly be mounted without the cooperation of everyone in the chain from cafeteria and custodial staff, to classroom teachers, student clubs, and administrators. Everyone is pitching in and looking forward to a successful outcome. This festival will give all RCPS students the opportunity to learn from a multi-cultural abundance of sights, sounds, aromas and tastes.”
