Then each student received a diploma or certificate, and all the children sang “It’s A Grand Old Flag ” Drama Club presents ‘Alice in America Land’
Thursday evening, the WCDS Drama Club performed its extremely entertaining version of “Alice in America Land,” a modem day parody on Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland.” The two-act play had its audience in stitches at the antics of its characters, which included a rabbit, two queens, a hatter, a hare, a caterpillar, a mouse, and other thoroughly entertaining performers. The play starred senior Rachel Marx as Alice, with a great supporting cast consisting of ninth through twelfth graders, with special cameo appearances by several third graders as the ill-fated Oysters. Directed by drama teacher Kristin Hauger, this play had great lines, costumes and sets, and the school anxiously awaits next year’s thespian presentation.
Keeping in shape
Under the leadership of physical education teacher Julie Vaught, WCDS’ level of physical fitness is on the rise. Last year, the school had 15 National awards and two Presidential Fitness awards, and this year those numbers have jumped to 27 National awards and 16 Presidential awards.
