Photo by Richard Lykes Every Wednesday afternoon for the past year, a group of eight students from the first through the third grades meet after class to study the Bible and memorize scripture. As an incentive, students can earn points by learning passages from the Bible and “cash” them in on small prizes like t-shirts and coloring books. The children’s Bible study classes are conducted by Rev. Phil Bailey, pastor of the Washington Baptist Church; Rev. Jenks Hobson, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church; and Rev. Jon Heddleston, pastor of Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville. In this picture, Rev. Phil Bailey has asked for a show of hands for those students who can recite the whole Lord’s Prayer by memory. Appearing left to right are Hannah Kleppinger, Rev. Bailey (standing), Jordan Atkins, Brianna Heggan, Dawson Wiley, Revs. Hobson and Heddleston (sitting), Parker Critzer, Kayla McGhee, Evan Marcus, and Dalton Clark.
