A few short hours later, walking uphill at a much slower pace and toiling under the load of a very heavy stringer, I returned to the house. The look on the faces of my elders placed a bubbling feeling of satisfaction within me. It felt great. Who would have thought this kid from Fairfax could take off and return with such a prize? But, I guess I wasn’t your typical kid from the city.
