Dr. Joyce Harman, a veterinarian from North Poes Road, made a request to convert the current primary residence on her property into a family apartment, making the current family apartment that is situated over a bam into an office space. Once this is done, Harman proposed to build a log cabin, approximately 658-feet from the family apartment as a primary residence.

The family apartment would be used for Harman’s mother and Harman herself would reside in the log cabin.

However, board member Alex Sharp advised the other BZA members that he had viewed the property and his finding was that there was ample property within the 200foot limits provided by current ordinances to build the new primary residence.

Finally, the board unanimously voted to approve Harman building the residence somewhere within a 200-foot range at the “closest point to the closest point” as McCarthy phrased it, advising Harman that if she found she could not
