ENGINEER

The Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill two (2) engineer positions within the Public Works Division. Successful candidates will plan, organize & manage complex public works construction and maintenance programs to include major facilities maintenance and repair projects; develop and administer design and construction programs; execute transportation and other public works grant projects; and develop environmental assessments. Manage the planning, design and acquisition of complex public works projects, including, but not limited to, building maintenance and .repair, stormwater management infrastructure and transportation; develop pre-design programs. Manage construction and post construction activities for building maintenance and repair, stormwater infrastructure and other complex public works projects. Inspect construction sites. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field and at least 3 yrs of directly related application experience. Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer Certification desirable. Some supervisory experience preferred. Valid VA driver’s license. May be required to attend occasional evening meetings; must be available to respond to County emergencies. DMV record check ts required (Hiring Range: $38,965 - $65,46t/yr) Ref 05-408.
