Annual Bikes for the World

The Warrenton Rotary Club is holding the 5th Annual Bikes for the World used bike collection on May 13 from 9 am until noon. The collection will take place in front of the Sears store on Rt. 29 in Warrenton. All donations are tax deductible and receipts will be provided. A $10 cash donation to defray shipping costs is graciously requested but not required. Bikes collected are shipped to third world countries for transportation to jobs and to school. May 13: Bolen Cemetery-Picnic

The semi-annual picnic-clean up day at the Bolen Family Cemetery is scheduled for Saturday, May 13. We will be meeting at the end of Keyser Rim Road (Rt. 614) and will leave by 11 o’clock. All interested in going please be prompt. Don’t forget we need pickup trucks or 4 x 4s to transport folks up the mountain. In case of extreme cold or rain the trip will be rescheduled for May 27. May 13: Picking Party

Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will be having their Picking Party on Saturday, May 13th at the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department at 6 p.m. All Bluegrass and Country bands are welcome. There will be a 50/50 raffle. The Fire Department Auxiliary will be selling refreshments. Come out and enjoy a great night of fun in an alcohol and smoke free environment. Relay for Life Tfeam Faith, Hope & Love will hold an “all you can eat” sausage and pancake breakfast with an inside yard sale and car wash at the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire & Rescue grounds on May 13.

Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lunch will be served from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. Prices for 12 and up $7 and 4 to 11, $4 and under four free. Lunch - Buy a hot dog and a drink for a $1, car wash - $10 a car and $20 for trucks and SUVS.

May 14: Mother’s Day Breakfast

Treat mom to breakfast on Sunday, May 14, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company. The cost for adults is $7 and for children $3.50. Food that will be served will be eggs, home files, sausage, bacon, French toast, fried apples, juice, tea and coffee. May 14: Mother’s Day brunch buffet

Moms and Merlot-Special Mother’s Day Barrel Tasting of our 2005 Merlot from the barrel FREE for all Moms. Other family members will be charged $2 for barrel samples and light finger foods in the barrel room. Chocolatier Marc Ast of The Frenchman’s Comer (www.frenchmancomer.com) will be serving samples of his Belgian Neuhaus Chocolate. His chocolates will be for sale in our tasting on this day as well.
