Remembering

our mother

By Wayne, Judy,

Jan and Ray

In loving memory of our mother, Edna Jenkins Burke, on Mother’s Day.

Sunday, May 14th is set aside to remember our mothers in a special way. We’d like to tell you a little about our mom on this special day. From the moment we took our first breath, she watched over us with loving kindness. And as we grew up, no matter what little bumps or scrapes we endured she was always there with a healing kiss, and it seemed that we were miraculously cured.

On Sunday mornings, she’d say “Better get ready for church” Ah. “Another Sunday, Mom?” would cross our minds, but if it weren’t for our mother’s godly concern, who knows if we’d be in church today?

Our mother never stopped being a mother, even when it meant a using a switch when it was occasionally needed.

Yes, our mother weathered our most threatening storms, and saw them out with a rainbow.

She was patient and honest and what she was, we became.

You think a lot of your mom, with that rose you wear close to your heart. The red rose is for those still living.

And for those moms gone on, the white rose plays its part.

If you know the joy of your mom being near, take that rose with the crimson hue, and the next time you see her, give it to her and take her in your arms and say, “Momma, Momma, I love you”.
