Culpeper Regional Hospital.
He was bom March 6, 1922 in Culpeper County to Richard Edwin Jolliffe and Pearl Rosella Settle Jolliffe.
Mr. Jolliffe served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He survived being in the first wave of troops to hit the beaches at Normandy during the Dday invasion, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
Later, he was employed by and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He enjoyed farming throughout his retirement. He loved his thoroughbred racehorses, and lived for fox hunting.
Mr. Jolliffe was a member of Gourdvine Baptist Church in Rixeyville.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou J. Smith of Amissville, a brother, Fred D. Jolliffe of Richmond, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Newman Jolliffe, four brothers and three sisters.
A funeral service will be held May 12 at 11 a.m. at the CloreEnglish Funeral Home Chapel, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memoiy Gardens, Jeffersonton, with military honors provided by VFW Post 2524 Honor Guard and American Legion Post 330 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held May 11 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, Culpeper.
