Although Cole poured millions of dollars into the Sunnyside operations, he seemed to begin losing interest in the sustainable organic enterprise after he began investing heavily in the Maui Land & Pineapple Corporation Inc., an organic pineapple corporation of which Cole is now president.
The Maui Land & Pineapple Corporation is Cole’s third attempt to make organic farming a viable business venture.
Previous to Cole’s Sunnyside Farm investment, he invested heavily into Walnut Acres, an organic farm in Pennsylvania that went out of business in 2000.
