Preserving agriculture in the county is a
central tenet of the future of our county as outlined in our comprehensive plan (CP). This theme threads its way through chapter six. The CP was designed by the citizens of the county and you, our BOS, have already approved the principle of preserving agriculture'. Now it is time for you to vote on the means of accomplishing this. The proposed budget for 2007 provides for the creation of the Conservation Easement Service District and the provision of a dedicated revenue stream for the Farmland Preservation Fund by levying a 2 cent tax per one hundred dollars of taxable real estate.
The BOS should uphold the comprehensive plan and approve both items in the budget.

This comprehensive land use plan (“the Plan”) is an endeavor to shape the
future physical development of the county by the adoption of goals, principles and policies rather than by the formulation of requirements that would impose a rigid image for the future.
