Correction
In the June 8 edition of The Rappahannock News an article entitled “Washington wastewater discharge permit approved” identified Christina Loock as a representative of the group The Friends Of the Rush River. This was incorrect. Loock spoke at the State Water Board meeting as Director of RappFLOW (Rappahannock Friends and Lovers of Our Watershed) and did not speak in opposition to Washington’s wastewater treatment discharge. “In our comments, RappFLOW asked for the permit to include tighter monitoring requirements to assure that water quality is maintained downstream of the discharge. We plan on working with the Town of Washington to achieve the mutual goal of excellent water quality both in the town and downstream on the Rush River,” explained Loock, in an email to the Rappahannock News.
