was something to see. Throwing a streamer that must have been seven inches long, and fighting pike on a doubled over fly rod was something that he mastered quickly. I came up with a ball of line at my feet and no fish. I will leave the fly rod to him.
We had hardly any equipment problems, although we were reminded that rod tips are still fragile, and tackle boxes are not meant to be boat seats.
Those little problems were nothing to watching Jason hook, fight and land an eight pound northern, close to three feet long, and then resuscitate and return him to the dark water to live and fight again another day. That made the trip worth it. Like I said, what a trip.
