Wow! What a trip to Canada. I won’t bore you with all the details, but for those of you who like the fishing stories, here’s the gist of it.

I have written here before that a big fish in the boat is a thing of joy forever, and so it was this trip. The trip odometer on the truck said 2020 miles when we pulled into the driveway at 3:30 Saturday morning, and every mile was worth it.

We fished seven lakes in seven days, and several days we fished two lakes, so there were some repeats. We caught fish every day. By the end of the third day, my wrist was sore from fighting fish, mostly pike. Although, throughout the trip we caught northern pike, pickerel or walleye, small mouth bass, yellow perch, and brook trout.

We enjoyed four big fish dinners, two with just pike, two with just walleye. We had them rolled in corn meal, dipped in beer batter, egg washed and cracker crumbs, and no sushi. They were outstanding, every one.

We had probably 12 to 15 doubles, where we were both fighting a fish at the same time. Jason caught some nice pike on a ten-foot, number eight fly rod outfit, and that
