and light-hearted reflections, Wakefield Country Day School held its 26th commencement on June 4th at the. school’s Leonard M. Cowherd Memorial Auditorium.
For a small school, Wakefield turns out some of the best and brightest students around. One hundred percent of their graduating seniors are headed for college in the fall. All eleven graduates were accepted at multiple colleges and between the group were offered $372,000 in scholarships.
Allison Russo, the class Valedictorian is going to the University of Virginia but also was accepted at Boston University, William and Maiy, James Madison University, Tulane, Duke, and Mary Washington.
Salutatorian is going to the University of Mary Washington but was accepted at James Madison and UVA as well. Both students addressed their fellow classmates during the ceremony, bringing smiles of recognition from parents, fellow students, and friends.
All graduates received Classical Diplomas but three received “Advanced Classical Diplomas” that require an extra year of Latin, a modern foreign language, calculus, and advanced placement science or physics. Those three were Caitlin Hammelman, Dorian Matthews, and Allison Russo.
