• What do you like to do In your free time? Get online, go to the movies when I have a ride, sit around and listen to music and talk with my host sister. • Why Song-Yi? Song-Yi is a foreign exchange student from Korea, who has resided in Rappahannock County and attended Wakefield Country Day School for the past four years. She has spent that time living with local families and fully immersing herself in American/Virginia/ Rappahannock culture. When she arrived here, Song-Yi’s English-speaking skills were quite limited; however, over time she has become impressively fluent in her “second language.” Song-Y was accepted to four different U.S. colleges and has chosen to attend Hollins University, with a $10,000 merit scholarship. When asked to describe Song-Y, her English teacher, Kristin Hauger observed, “Although technically an ESL student (English as a Second Language), Song-Y has fully integrated into our school, gamely accepting every challenge, from AP essays to accepting a speaking part in our school play. She has a zest for life and a fearless attitude.”
