Lurking in the fine print of the county’s proposed $19 million budget for the coming fiscal year is a plan to levy a new tax of $.03 cents per $100 valuation to; finance a new county government building expected to cbst $1.5 million or more. It is another reason for the county’s proposed 20 percent increase in real estate taxes for the coming year.
The new tax would be collected in each of the next three years to build up a cash fund to pay for a new county building of up to 7,500 square feet, according to County Administrator John McCarthy.
