The warm evening and sun setting over the pond at the Unicom Winery provided a perfect backdrop for an Alfresco Summer Evening, a fundraiser for the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee and Democratic candidates. Along with the several Unicom wines to be sampled, grilled ribs, summer salads and several deadly, but irresistible desserts, were prepared and served by members of the committee.
Jim Nachman, Democratic candidate for Congress in the 7th Congressional District and his wife Kelly drove up from Richmond to make one of his first public appearances of his campaign at the event. Jim spoke briefly to the 60 attendees describing his credentials and answering several questions from those present. He is opposing incumbent Eric Cantor in the fall elections.
Co-Chairs for the event were Linda Dietel and Fran Krebser supported by Jeanne Dixon, Barbara Dennis, Barbara Adolfi, Jill Duval, Margaret Francis, and Vernon and Lisa Welsted. The Democrats are planning their next event, a community picnic, on July 4.
