Valedictorian
Class of 2006
Courtney Hutcheson has already been noted as an athletic all-star. After participating in a number of Rappahannock High School sports, including basketball and soccer, she was awarded “Female Athlete of the Year.” She is also this year’s Valedictorian. “Sports are my passion,” she said, “I have always enjoyed being a part of them.”
In spite of her rigorous sports schedule, she did find time for academics. “Sports gave me focus and helped me to budget my time, Hutcheson said, “It was a nice balance.”
She also balanced an additional activity by joining the the school band, playing the timpani. “I still had to do some ierunch-time to get it all done,” she admitted. “High School is very busy but its also very social.”
Classmates voted Hutcheson “Most Likely to Arrive in Style” and was noted for “Best Car” at the school.
She has already been accepted to the University of Virginia where she wifi major in Sports Medicine. “That way I. wilLplways be around sports,” she |aid. Although she has done well in Rappahannock County athletics she doesn’t think that she will compete at an NCAA level at UVA. “Til definitely be into inter-mural sports,” she said.
Hutcheson plans on spending the summer preparing for college and spending time with friends. “I will probably spend the weekend of graduation celebrating with my family” she ' added, “Monday, I am sure I will be calling up all my friends wanting to hang out.”
