With the holiday season about to begin, many of us look forward to the feasts and gatherings where our favorite dishes will be served. But, we’re not the only ones.
November is also when three important pests: spider mites, adelgids and deer, begin to actively feed on landscape plants. Now is the time to examine trees and shrubs for signs of the damage they cause Bartlett Tree Experts can help.
Spider mites are commonly found on conifers, particularly spruces, junipers, arborvitae and hemlocks. Also on hemlock are the white cottony masses of the hemlock woolly adelgid. If ignored, this sucking insect will lull its host within four years of infestation. In addition, deer are busy feeding on acorns and beech nuts, but will soon establish their winter browsing patterns.
