Some 250 attended the Fall Auction on Saturday of the Child Care Learning Center (CCLC), which makes this year’s the most successful event in the organization’s history.
Over $60,000 was raised through the auction plus donations from Rappahannock citizens and others. Those folks joined to help CCLC maintain its nationallyaccredited early childhood learning programs.
According to executive director Rose Ann Sharp, the non-profit center’s principal fund raiser was an extraordinary success, exceeding its total from last year by over $19,000. Sharp, and co-chair of the event, Debbie Donehey, were quick to point out, however, that this record could not have been achieved without the dedicated participation of so many volunteers in Rappahannock County.
As always, it is a difficult question to put to organizers: “Who helped you reach your goals?” The program for the evening lists 58 “Silent Auction” items donated to help raise funds for the organization. And then you have to add 87 more “Live Auction” items that were donated as well. % And one hasn’t even mentioned the dozens of dedicated volunteers who helped organize and arrange the show, prepare the food, and run the auction itself. Nor those who gave substantial cash donations.
