Dec. 3: Christmas Parade
in Little Washington
Come hear the band and see them in their new uniforms as they march down Main Street in Little Washington, Sunday, Dec. 3 starting at 12:30 p.m. Look for those decorated llamas and vintage cars. Washington Baptist Church will have food and Washington businesses will host open houses. Please come and join the festivities! Dec. 3: Holiday items for sale
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will be making and selling wreaths, swags and bunches of greens as well as Christmas cookies on December 3, starting at 12 p.m., at the Flint Hill Fire House. Come out and pick up some holiday greenery and decorate the house for the holidays. Then enjoy some of those good cookies on the ride home. Dec. 8: A Celebration of Christmas
The Blue Ridge Chorale of Culpeper under Director Virginia Erwin will present a choral concert at The Theatre in Washington at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8. This is truly “The Many Moods of Christmas", from deeply reverent to truly joyous; beloved traditional to just great fun! The audience will be invited to join in some carols. Dec. 10: Santa Claus in Amissville
Avoid the mall and chaos of commercialism! Santa makes a visit to Gray Ghost on Sunday, December 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. This is a free event and every child receives a special gift. Cameras are welcomed and encouraged. Gray Ghost is located at 14706 Lee Highway in Amissville and can be contacted at 937-4869.
Dec. 11: Essay Contest in Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday
An Essay Contest entitled, "Dr. King's Dream What I will do to keep the dream alive" is open to students in grades 5th & 6th, 7th - 9th, and 10th - 12th in Rappahannock County schools, public and private. The essay contest is sponsored by the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Committee in celebration of the 16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday celebration held each year in January. The deadline for submissions is December 11, 2006.
