Warren County
site selected for
regional jail plan

Warren County administrator Doug Stanley announced Tuesday that the Regional Jail Committee has selected a Warren County site for the regional jail planning study. The jail would serve the counties of Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren.
The site is located in the Warren Industrial Park near the north end of Front Royal. Stanley insists that the site is not set in stone and was merely selected in order to meet a March 1, 2007 filing deadline. “While this site has been identified for planning purposes, the Regional Jail Committee continues to evaluate alternatives in , Page, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties,” said Stanley, noting that the plan selected is currently the most viable option.
Other proposed sites include one from Page County officials in the Luray Industrial Park along Stoneybrook Road.
In order to change the site, the committee would have to submit an amendment to the original document. Mosley Architects, the designers of the jail, have recommended that any amendments to the proposal be completed by June 1, 2007.
