Cantor comes to town
Congressman Eric Cantor paid a visit to the Town of Washington last Friday to meet with county officials and visit area businesses. Cantor was welcomed by Rappahannock County Administrator John McCarthy, Board of Supervisors Chairman Bob Anderson, County Republican Committee Chairman Kirk Milam, Vice Chair Demaris Miller and her husband, Jim Miller. Cantor visited several businesses within the Washington area including the Shops at the Inn at Little Washington, the Country Cafe, and R.H. Ballard Art, Rug and Home. He purchased a bracelet at Chris Goodine’s Designs in Gold and Silver for his wife, Diana. Cantor also visited the Clerk of the Circuit Court Office, the Sheriff’s Office and the County Administration Building, speaking with county officials and members of the public. Cantor assured residents that he was aware of Dominion Power’s power line proposal through parts of Rappahannock and released this statement, “I have many questions about the proposed route that Dominion Power Company has chosen that will run through parts of Rappahannock and Culpeper. I have been in contact with county officials in Rappahannock and Culpeper as well as Dominion Power and I am in the process of gathering information. Ensuring the safety of residents and respecting the rights of property owners are my priorities." Pictured with Congressman Cantor are Robert and Joanie Ballard and Chris Goodine.
