By Amy Silver O’Leary • Special to the Rappahannock News I Ten years ago, Headwaters was launched as a volunteer, grassroots organization! Started by a group of Rappahannock County public school parents to provide independent support for the public school system and to increase community involvement in education, Headwaters is independent of the public schools but works closely with them.

As the organization celebrates its tenth anniversary, a very special Annual Board Retreat is planned for the second weekend in March. Organizational consultant Alaina Love Cugnon, a county resident who is involved with a variety of local non-profits, will assist Headwaters Directors and staff in reviewing the last ten years and planning the future. Alaina is the President and co-founder of HRx Renaissance Consortium, Inc., and the creator and author of the Renaissance Reconnections™ Program. With 25 years of business experience, she consults to Fortune 500 firms as well as small, independent companies, hospitals and foreign government organizations. Alaina provides strategic leadership, organizational development and individual coaching consulting services to executives in a variety of industries. Her passion is helping leaders to transition themselves and others into new, fulfilling and purpose-linked roles. Eveiyone at Headwaters feels extremely privileged to be working with such a skilled facilitator as we envision our next ten years.

As recounted in the February 21 Rappahannock News, Superintendent Bob Chappell has released his proposed 2007-08 school budget. The School Board, which has held several public work sessions to solicit public comment on the budget, will hold a formal public hearing on March 20 at 7:30 p.m.
