at least 23 cup-shaped bells made of bell bronze, a combination of 78 percent copper and 22 percent tin. The classic instruments are actually played on a keyboard using fists and feet.

The carillon in the Methodist Church here in Amissville is of the electronic variety and rather than being played on a keyboard it’s playing off of CDs.

The church has had a carillon for many years and its daily chimes were enjoyed by many Amissville residents. But the old machine kept breaking repeatedly. And since it was powered by 8-track tapes it had clearly outlived its normal life span!
