on Soil and Microbes’’
The RLEP Biodiversity Task Force continues its Focus on Habitat series with a presentation on soil and the critters who live in it by soH expert Charlie Thornton and holistic veterinarian Dr. Joyce Harman. Whether you’re trying to grow a garden or determine where to plant wildflowers, you need to understand soH and the tiny fauna that make up the food web within it. Thornton will explain the chemical and physical properties of soils and how the health of the soH affects the plants that grow in it and the people and animals that consume them. Harman will explain the importance of the millions of creatures— nematodes, microbes, and others—living beneath our feet in the soil food web that are also essential to the health of plants and those who consume them. The presentation, which is at the Rappahannock Library from 10 to 11:30 a.m., is free and does not require reservations.
