Friday evening at the Public House’s weekly Fish Fry, Farmto-Table benefactor Mitzie Young invited a number of the county’s “new arrivals” to meet their neighbors and learn about the Farm-to-Table Program. At the event, held in honor1 of Andrea Wooten and Steve Ray, Program Coordinator Trista Scheuerlein spoke about how the program helps to reinforce the ethic of preservation for County young people.

Director Miranda Hope and College Guide Lauren Ross arranged for Corey Allen of Universal Technical Institute to come to RCHS to speak to 30 students about automotive careers, personal finance, goal setting, and responsibility. Ms. Hope and Ms. Ross also met with all the 8th graders and 8th grade teachers last month, led two 90-minute workshops on college and financial aid with Mr. Flincham’s “College and Career” class, and presented a career workshop to the 6th and 7th graders.
Art teacher Mrs. Rosenblatt said, “Your presentation was wonderful.. .1 hope that we can do this again every semester.” Finally, Ms. Hope and Ms. Ross helped 15 students complete the Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) application. Twenty-four, students have signed up for a field trip to see both LFCC campuses and take the placement test.
