“These documents have been in need of revision since the comprehensive plan was passed in August of ‘06,” Planning Commission Chairman Gary Schwartz said.
Milt Herd, a consultant that is assisting the Planning Commission with the document, outlined the major changes to the ordinance at the commission’s meeting Monday.
Under the changes, agricultural uses would be shifted from a by-right use to requiring a special permit. A special permit would also be required for retail spaces of more than 1,000 square feet. The ordinance also includes measures that encourage cluster development to preserve open space in rural residential zones of the town.
