Wastewater update
Leggett announced that the environmental assessment for the town’s planned wastewater treatment plant is under way. He said the report will likely be ready to submit to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in mid-March, and the DEQ may take up to two months to process the findings.
“That will be a major hoop for us to jump through to qualify for the loan,” Leggett said, referring to the town’s plans to finance the wastewater treatment system. In December, the DEQ’s State Water Control Board approved the town for a $4 million loan at 0 percent interest for 20 years.
