Religious Notes
Amissville United Methodist Church will be hosting Thursday evening covered dish dinners, followed by programs relating to the season. This will occur over a period of five weeks, beginning March 1. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. on each of these occasions. Information for the first three is as follows:

Amissville Baptist Church is happy to welcome the Gospel Group - “Calling Levi” on Sunday, March 4 at 7 p.m. “Calling Levi” is a group of experienced vocalists who have ministered collectively in over 15 countries and all across the United States. Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Amissville will be having their Women’s Day and Deaconess Day on March 4 at 3 p.m. The speaker for the morning service will be evangelist Bessie Thompson, a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. The speaker at 3 p.m. will be Minister Loretta Strother from the Thessalonia Baptist Church in Fork Union, Va., accompanied by the church choir and a group of praise dancers. Hosted by Washington Baptist Church, Community Lenten Services begin on Wednesday, Feb. 28 and continue each Wednesday through March 28. This year’s theme is “JOHN 16”. Participating in each service are the Methodist Churches (of Flint Hill, Sperryville and Willis Chapel); Trinity Episcopal; St. Peter’s Catholic and Reynolds and Washington Baptist. Each service begins with a pot-luck dinner at 6:15, followed by worship at 7 p.m. On Feb. 28, Washington Baptist will host the dinner, Trinity Episcopal will lead the music and Rev. Leah DeLong of the Methodist Charge will deliver the message, “Keeping the Faith.” Child care, also sponsored cooperatively by the churches, is provided free of charge! A passover seder meal led by Mr. Dennis Karp of Chosen people Ministries will be observed at the Washington Baptist Church on Sunday, March 11, at 6 p. m. and the public is invited. A guest speaker will explain the symbolic meanings of the various items of the Passover feast and highlight their relationship to the Last Supper that Jesus celebrated with his disciples.
