The Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission, or Planning District 9, the series’ convener, will assist local community leaders in developing a detailed workshop agenda that. focuses on current local and regional topics, and responds to area needs. The workshop will employ a panel discussion/case study format, with presentations to be provided by knowledgeable speakers from similarsize communities both inside and outside the region. RRRC will also provide assistance by taking care of registration, preparation of workshop materials, and public outreach.
Cliff Miller’s SchoolHouse in Spenyville, contingent on the Regional Commission’s upcoming selection of Rappahannock as host, is being considered as the location for the workshop, with an anticipated enrollment of about 100 participants. Preliminary plans are similarly being developed for meals, an after-workshop reception and walking tour. The date envisioned for the workshop is May 31, but is yet to be finalized. More details will be available as official planning for the workshop gets underway.

Mike Biniek and Susan Hoffman at Belle Meade plan to have a Farm School for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students starting in September. The school philosophy is to combine a strong academic program with farm work.
