advice was, “You don’t know Shakespeare unless you’ve read the entire canon, everything he wrote.” At least I’m ahead of the game there, having read all 32 plays and the sonnets. And working as the prompter for the Theatre, the lowliest job in the theatre kingdom, I had kept me head in the prompt book. Always just a bit intimidated by director Michael Kahn, I was ready to jump in with a line, but that was rarely necessary for the highly-professional cast. Now experience in this humble job is a Godsend.
