Although this is the first regular season district title under Burke, the Panthers have been outstanding during his tenure. They’ve posted winning records the last three years, and in 2005 he led them to the district tournament title.
He helped guide the Panthers to their only state championship in 2001 and a regional championship in 2003 as an assistant.
“He really knows the game,” sophomore shortstop Emily Carter said. “He’s a championship level coach, just look at what he’s done over the last five or six years.”
