“We had people calling the winery to place wine orders and were unable to leave messages, so we lost business,” she said.
“We spent almost an entire day typing in credit cards manually,” East continued. “This takes a day of work away from the vineyard, this is unnecessary time spent away from work.”
The phone outages have been a continual problem since Sharp Rock was founded four years ago, East said. The problems have affected her business and personal lives.
Last summer, her parents canceled a visit because they had health problems and were worried about being able to contact emergency services on the East’s unreliable phone line. A few month’s later, East’s father passed away.
“I lost out on seeing my father coming down here the last month or two of his life,” East said.
“If there’s a fire or an emergency, we have no way of calling 911,” East said. “Something needs to be done.”
