June 14: SCORE
announces auditions
The American Children of SCORE (String, Choral, Orff, and Recorder Ensemble) will hold aucStion vfone 14 for their ensemble program for the 2007/2008 season which begins in September. Chldren in rising grades 3 through 6 are invited to try out for this unique, musical opportunity. Based In Wanrenton, SCORE was founded in 1994 by Artistic Director John Krumich, Betsy Porter and Catharine Walczak. The group has grown to over 40 chldren from over 20 area public and private schools, and several home schools, representing six counties in Virginia’s northern piedmont region.
The chldren in SCORE rehearse throughout the season, September through May, once per week, and are trained chorally and instrumentaBy on Orff instruments, recorder^ and optionally on traditional string instruments. The group performs 4 to 5 times during the season. Tuition assistance is available.
Plans for next season include the Warrenton WasSal with renowned fok musician Mice Seeger and a fully staged to* opera in collaboration with Longwood University. Aucfitions wM be held, by appointment, in the Highland Center for the Arts choral room on Wednesday, June 13 and Thursday June 14. Auditions last approximately 10 minutes and do not require any special preparations or prior musical experience.
