In the early morning hours of June 7, the soul of Betty Ann Lillard Estes took peaceful flight to the God that she tenderly loved and worshiped from early childhood.

She was bom in Madison County, Virginia on July 8, 1932, the oldest daughter of John Printz and Martha Utz Lillard; the granddaughter of John Henry and Martha Susan Printz Lillard and Wayman Lewis and Katherine Elizabeth Utz.

Mrs. Estes is survived by her three devoted children and their spouses, Katherine Estes Baader Kilby and her husband Dr. Walter B. Kilby, Charles Kenneth Estes II and his wife Kelly Brown Estes, Martha Susan Estes Ryan and her husband Michael R. Ryan; three cherished grandchildren, Michael Joseph Baader II, Charles Benjamin Estes and Julia Katherine Estes.

She is also survived by two loving sisters, Edna Merle Lillard Royston of Leesburg, Virginia and Martha Ellen Lillard Watson of Richmond, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Charles Kenneth Estes and their infant daughter Anne Gore Estes, as well as her parents.

Mrs. Estes was a 1949 graduate of Madison County High School and a 1954 graduate of the Grace Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

She was an active member of the Sperryville United Methodist Church.

The funeral services were held on Sunday, June 10, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Sperryville United Methodist Church with Rev. Leah DeLong and Rev. Jennings Hobson III officiating. Interment followed at the Sperryville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Joseph Baader II, John Anthony Royston, John Christopher Watson, Walter Richard Lillard, Walter Richard Lillard, Jr., James Stuart Lillard, James Gregory Wayland, and Harry Allen Newlin.

Honorary Pallbearers were James Edward Swindler, Anthony Randolph Wayland, Randolph D. Clater, C.B. Johnson, Jr. and Thomas F. Junk.
