engineering and science programs. His mother said Jesse has always been interested in science, mathematics and how things work. “He has always been very precise,” she said. Jesse is also the kind of person who manages to get along with all types of people. “I think he’s comfortable with anyone in the school,” Hope said. “He gets along with everybody. “Jesse takes his work very seriously, but he doesn’t take himself very seriously,” she said. “He tries to help other people,” his mother added. “He is willing to do whatever people need him to do.”

Age: 17 Hometown: Sperryville School: Rappahannock County High School Parents: Barbara and Chris Wheatley After High School: Laura will attend Shenandoah University, where she plans to major in theater. Why Laura? Laura has managed to maintain a strong academic record while being involved in several school clubs, theater and sports. “She always tried to make sure that academics came first and the rest would fall into place,” said Laura’s father, Chris. Laura has been captain of the Panthers’ varsity cheerleading team, a member of the National Honor Society and vice president of the 4-H Honor Club. She also won the RCHS Yearbook and Photography awards and was named a Rappahannock Scholar.
