On June 5, Sheila Anne Boatman Ryan, 82, of Emissive, Va., died at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Va., after a long illness.
Mrs. Ryan was the dearly beloved wife of William F. Ryan of Amissville, and mother of: Mark Albert Ryan, deceased; William Boarman Ryan of New York; Peter Jerome Ryan of Federalsburg, Maryland; Susan St. John Ryan of New York; Robyn Mary Brechbill of Hayesville, North Carolina; and Marshall T. Ryan of Gillette, New Jersey. Her siblings were: Dr. Patrick M. Boatman of San Diego, California; Barbara Elizabeth Kennedy of Alexandria, Virginia; Mary Ellen Young of Comith, Texas; and John Paul Boatman, deceased.
She was bom in Buffalo, New York to the late Marcus Daly Boatman and Virginia Madigan on February 7, 1925. She was raised in New York City, attended the Mount St. Ursula Academy, and graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York. She taught English, Latin and history at private schools in Cleveland, Ohio and Los Angeles, California, and at the U.S. Air Force Adult Education Center in Erding, Germany. A member of the Society of the Lees of Virginia, being a descendant of the Blenheim Lees of Maryland, she was an ancestral cousin of Chief Justice John Marshall of Fauquier County, as well as a great-great granddaughter of A.W. Smith, County Clerk at Warrenton,
