The School Board also hired Mello to serve as an Assistant Football Coach for the 20072008 school year, at his request.
“There are lots of neat programs at our schools right now, and athletics is an area that needs support,” said Mello, “I think I will enjoy the opportunity to help support the football program as an assistant coach.”
Following the announcement from the school board, Puiyear said that Mello had asked her about the switch and they had been discussing the idea for a couple of months.
