June 29-July 1: Learn to Teach Life Stories Workshops with JuHe Portman
Ki Theatre is offering the annual three day Tran the Trainer Life Stories Workshop. The dales are June 29 through July 1 in Washington, Virginia. Train the Trainer is designed for participants who want to facilitate life stories workshops, develop their own story-writing and teaching skills, help students and clients of all ages recognize and connect with their own stories. 21 Continuing Education Units are available for those who register. The workshop is taught by Julie Portman, artistic director of Ki Theatre. Julie is a New York Obie award winning theatre artist and writer who has developed and taught the Life Stories Wbrkshop process at Retreat Centers, for not for profit organizations, the United States Senate Staff and a breadth of educational institutions throughout North America. In the Piedmont area, 500 people have participated in Ki Theatre’s life stories workshops. July 4: Come to the fireworks!
Gates open at 1 p.m. Benefiting the SpenryvHe Volunteer Fire Department, they wiH be located at the Thornton HiHs Hounds Race Course located south of SperryviDe on Rt. 522. There will be food, games, music and displays until the fireworks start at dark between 9-9:30 p.m. General Parking: $10; Tailgate Parking: $20 per car, Business/Corporate Section: $250 includes space for tent reserved spot for one vehicle and five general admission tickets. July 4: Charity lemonade stand
Baby Bear Daycare and Preschool of SperTyville wiH be sponsoring a charity lemonade stand at the SperryvHle July 4th Celebration. There wiH be ice cold lemonade aid baked goodies made by the children at Baby Bear Daycare and Preschool ALL proceeds wiH go to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network LemonAid project and wiH hefo give cancer treatments to children. The 4th of July festivities in SpenyviHe wifl include a “Patriotic Costume Parade” at 5 p m, organized by the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee. Parade participants of al ages are welcome. “Come strut your patriotic reds, whites and blues in this fun foot parade (no vehicles permitted).
