Prize Bull
A bull bred by J. Newbill Miller of Ginger Hill Farm at Washington set a new adjusted yearling weight record recently in the Virignia Beef Cattle Improvement Association's 21-year-old Culpeper central bull test.
Ginger Hill Band .78, calved December 11, 1977, reached an adjusted 365-day weight of 1,241 pounds with a yearling weight ratio of 121. His average daily gain during the 140-day test was 3.46 pounds with a gain ratio of 118. The bull’s adjusted 205day weaning weight was 676 pounds with a 112 ratio.
“In addition to this outstanding performance, the bull was 49.5 inches tall at the hip at 365 days of age, making him a five frame bull," reported A. L. Eller Jr., Virginia Tech Extension specialist in animal science.
Ginger Hill Band.78 was sired by Band.234 of Ideal 3191 and is the first calf of an Ankonian Dynamo daughter.
