Students who pass the test, even as early as the ninth grade, are not retested. Bloomer reported, adding that students who fail could take the examination again and again, right up until graduation.
“Well, that doesn't mean much then,” commented Board member Arthlinda Quaintance.

Bloomer continued that, students who failed both sections of the competency exam would have to attend remedial classes two afternoons a week. All parents have been notified as to whether their child failed, he said, adding that parents would be responsible for providing transportation home after the special classes.
