At the January 9 meeting of the Rappahannock School Board Superintendent William Bloomer announced plans for a remedial program designed to help those students who failed the minimum competencies for graduation test administered in October.
The five tenth graders who failed both the reading and mathematics sections and the 20 students who failed one portion of the test ^fcill work with James Futrell, high school guidance counselor, to uncover areas where special help is required, according to Bloomer. Then the reading teachers will offer remedial instruction in reading and the mathematics teachers in math for one afternoon per week through March“Students may also request extra individual assistance from teachers," added Bloomer.
