Duties

Stephen Crossman of Amissville has assumed duties as a deputy with the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Department as of January 15. He holds the position created by the resignation of R. D. Hawkins.

Crossman, 27, is a native of Rapidan in Culpeper County. He has been in the U. S. Coast Guard for the past eight year*:, stationed in Baltimore, Portsmouth and Alaska for about two years each and on a weather station ship for another two. He is a graduate of Culpeper County High school.

Crossman is married to the former Nancy Smith of Amissville and they have a six-year-old daughter, Melissa. Henry Lillard, now living with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Poling at Amissville is Crossman’s grandfather. Louis Crossman of Culpeper is also his grandfather.
