He added that formal conferences may not be necessary after all observations if the teacher and the evaluator agree on conclusions. Each time a teacher is observed—whether it’s one, two or 20 times—the evaluator fills out a form, a copy of which is supplied to the teacher so he or she can ‘‘examine the evidence,” Bloomer said. If the teacher objects to the evaluator’s conclusions, he continued, then a formal conference is scheduled. He added that there was space on the evaluation forms for a tpacher to disagree with the conclusions drawn from the observation.
Again following Bloomer’s advice, the School Board members made no changes in the policy handbook that would require continuing contract teachers to be evaluated every year. They also declined to stipulate that all teachers will be observed during the first semester.
