SUPPORTERS of the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution have taken up a daily vigil on the sidewalks surrounding the State Capitol in an attempt to urge legislators to ratify the women’s rights amendment this year.

The so-called silent vigil, which so far has attracted about a dozen picketers daily, is scheduled for each day the legislature is in session.

Opponents to the amendment have planned a rally on the Capitol grounds for 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 23.
