Reception of the proposed one-time windfall, especially among urban Democrats, has been lukewarm at best, with some legislators feeling Northern Virginia was shortchanged throughout the administration’s budget revisions.
Del. David Brickley (DPrince William) said the proposed local slice of the surplus pie is “acceptable”, but added “I personally support sending a larger share of the surplus back to the localities.
“I would really like to see it divided,” Brickley said, “half of it going to the state and half of it going back to the localities.”
